Do I Repair my Broken Washing Machine?

When you’re faced with a broken appliance, there are a few steps to consider: 1. Is the appliance worth repairing? 2. At what point is it better to get a new one?

Having a washing machine (or appliance) breakdown is not something anyone hopes for, but it does happen. When it does, you inevitably have choices to make. Will you repair your malfunctioning washer yourself or call for a repairman? What does it costs? Should I replace my washer now or later, when the warranty runs out?

Breaking out the toolbox and swapping your malfunctioning appliance is a common household scenario that’s a headache for all persons involved. Whether you’re the DIY type or just dread the prospect of tinkering with hoses or gears, deciding between to repair or replace is a personal decision at heart.

Do you have an appliance requiring repair? While it may seem pointless to spend money on a machine with limited years left, repairs can often benefit homeowners in the long run. Here’s what to consider when deciding between repair or replacement.

If you plan to keep this appliance for at least five years, it may be worth getting it repaired. However, if your machine is newer or still under warranty, then these few repairs may not be worth the effort. Washing machines can last as little as three years or up to 12 years, though most last around six to nine years when professionally treated.

I think probably I am going to try to get a repair first, has anybody tried these guys?   Appliance Repairs New York

employment leave

Types of Paid Employment Leave

There are three common types of leaves; administrative, medical and bereavement.

Administrative Leave

What is administrative leave? In general, the term administrative leave is used to describe a mandatory absence. The employee leaves or is told to leave his/her job despite the fact that it’s not their choice. The employee wants to remain at work but the employer, who may be the individual’s boss, or higher authority may require them to take an administrative leave. The reason for this is typically due to a conflict of interest and/or (alleged) misconduct on behalf of the employee which puts their employer in a situation where they can no longer trust them and needs to place them on an administrative leave.

When an employee is placed on administrative leave, he or she is generally not allowed to work. The purpose of placing the employee on an administrative leave is usually to protect the interests of both the employer and employee during a period when potentially damaging allegations are investigated. When an employee is placed on administrative leave, he or she must remain out of work until an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disciplinary issue has been completed. Generally, an employer cannot fire an employee while they are on administrative leave; however, in some cases, the employer may fire the employee while they are on administrative leave.

Medical Leave

The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a labor law that provides employees the right to take up to 12 weeks of leave during one year for certain family and medical reasons. Eligible employees working for employers with 50 or more employees can be eligible. If you are denied unpaid leave under this Act, you may be able to file a lawsuit in court to challenge that decision. Whether you win or lose in court, you will have the opportunity to tell your story to a judge.

Bereavement Leave

Bereavement leave is a legally mandated time off from work due to the death of an immediate family member. This rule applies to almost all employers, regardless of size or business structure. No employee should have to go back to work immediately following the death of a loved one. They need time and space to grieve as privately and carefully as possible. An employer’s duty is to support their employee during this difficult time and in most cases this means granting either a paid or unpaid bereavement leave.

What is the guarantor loan?

A guarantor loan is borrowing to an individual who otherwise would not be able to be lent to due to either poor credit rating or lack of ability to repay debt via normal credit scoring guidelines. The individual then seeks protection from a friend or family member to guarantee the loan so in the event of default the guarantor then repays the lender.

The loan itself is likely to have a higher rate of interest due to the type of borrower despite the lender having the added protection of a guarantee in place.

What can you do if you have a guarantor loan in place?

If you have a guarantee in place against a loan with Amigo it is always worth challenging them as to the validity of the facility and whether they addressed on application of the borrowing the borrowers own personal abilities to repay the debt. In short they have to have established that the borrowing was responsible.

If you feel in any way concerned regarding the process of how the lending was arranged you can make a complaint to the firm in the first instance where they have eight weeks to reply. Following which if you are unhappy with their response you can take the complaint further through to the Financial Ombudsman for review.

We work for clients in order to deal with the process from the moment of your concern through to the ombudsman’s review using our previous experience in banking and lending along with our experience in dealing with complaints on behalf of clients all of which span back to the late 80s.

Why are guarantor loans so risky?

Guarantor loans are notoriously risky for those providing guarantees. They are as individuals taking on all of the responsibility for the debt with no benefits whatsoever. The coronavirus is not to have financial positions of those who have taken out loans. It’s not going to help firms who provided the loans. As such the onus of responsibility would therefore be focused on any recoveries being made via the guarantor.
