PUP v6 Is Available
For those who were wondering what's going on with my PUP v6 add-in for Excel...

Now I sit back nervously, hoping not to hear about a major problem from an early user.

Morale Problem?
Here's a classic example of how politicians can't answer a simple yes/no question. It's from a recent Press Gaggle by Trent Duffy.
Q: Trent, is there a morale issue that the President is concerned about in the military? There was, obviously, the lawsuits that were filed yesterday by people who had their deployments extended. Is the President concerned about how military and the military families are viewing their mission, as more demands fall on them?
MR. DUFFY: Well, I think as Commander-in-Chief, this visit today underscores how important the President feels his role is, and that is important to keep the spirits high of the troops and their families, and that's why he goes out of his way on a regular basis to speak publicly with troops, but also to meet privately with them, to go to visit to Walter Reed, to visit with wounded soldiers and their families. But as Commander-in-Chief, he has forged a strong bond with our military troops and their families.
Q: Does that mean that, yes, there is a morale problem?
MR. DUFFY: The President views his relationship as Commander-in-Chief of the troops very importantly, and he commits -- invests a great deal of time in upholding morale. This President has been one of the strongest Presidents in history for supporting our troops. He approved three straight pay raises for them. He has increased funding for housing. He has increased support for military families back at home. He has given -- provided increases for training for facilities, for equipment, so that our troops maintain to be the best and finest fighting force in all the world. And he takes his role as Commander-in-Chief very seriously, and I think his record in support of our troops and their families speaks for itself.
So is the answer yes or no?

Useless Clutter
This is hilarious: An article about useless clutter on websites. If you look real hard, you'll eventually find the article amid the clutter.

Pat Metheny On Kenny G
This is an older article, but it's still interesting. At All About Jazz: Pat Metheny's Initial Message Board Comments on Kenny G.
not
long ago, kenny g put out a recording where he overdubbed himself on top of a
30+ year old louis armstrong record, the track "what a wonderful world". with
this single move, kenny g became one of the few people on earth i can say that i
really can't use at all - as a man, for his incredible arrogance to even
consider such a thing, and as a musician, for presuming to share the stage with
the single most important figure in our music.

King Of Jordan Visits San Francisco
John C. Dvorak writes about what he saw last week: Machine Guns Aimed at Children in San Francisco - HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
While the state of the media is pretty bad it's hard to imagine how bad until the King Abdullah of Jordan rolls by in his limo in downtown San Francisco surrounded by the local Police and various black SUV's including one with some character pointing a machine gun out the window at Christmas shoppers, my children included. You just might think this was a little odd - and disconcerting.

Abundant Bible
Here's a mega-site of Bible stuff: Abundant Bible.
The only reason I mention it is because of their URL: blogpsot.com. I guess they're counting on the fact that a few people can't type blogspot.com accurately.
I think the guestbook is the only part of the site that's even close to being readable. The majority of the entries appear to be fake, but there are some good ones interspersed:
I am trying to get to some other websites and this website keeps coming up. This is a new kind of spam on the internet. If you are trying to talk about God and morality you are breaking the very basic rules of morality by doing this (not letting people get to the webpages they need and get directed here instead.
The site is mirrored at greenguy.org, as noted in another guestbook entry:
well damn, i came here cause someone told me that greenguy.org was a porn site... and this is what i came up with? i'm disappointed.
And if you wonder how people find this site, here's a guestbook comment that explains it:
God led me to this site.
And another:
PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!! I WAS SEEKING THE LORD TO ANSWER WHAT I WAS IN NEED OF AND HE GUIDED ME TO YOUR WEBSITE.
Yet another:
I cannot believe that this website just popped up as i was going to close out my computer for the night.
Perhaps the best advice:
You should consider spell checking your website before you begin to preach to the entire world.

Ovaltineys
Here's the Web site for the League of Ovaltineys.
The
Ovaltiney Club, founded in 1935 and broadcasting from Radio Luxembourg every
Sunday evening from 5.30 to 6 p.m. became a secret society for children, with
its own badges, rule books, and inside codes: by 1939 it had five million
members.
The programme's signature tune, 'We are the Ovaltineys' , became probably the best-known jingle in the world; and was so well embedded in the national subconscious that the company was persuaded to revive it as part of its television commercial in 1975.

Boozing Rules
Everything has rules, even drinking. From Modern Drunkard, The 86 Rules of Boozing.
Just a few:
- Girls hang out, apply make-up, and have long talks in the bathroom. Men do not.
- Learn how to make a rose out of a bar napkin. You'll be surprised how well it works.
- Never tip with coins that have touched you. If your change is $1.50, you can tell the barmaid to keep the change, but once she has handed it to you, you cannot give it back. To a bartender or cocktail waitress, small change has no value.
- If you think you might be slurring a little, then you are slurring a lot. If you think you are slurring a lot, then you are not speaking English.

Polka Heaven
In heaven there is no beer -- but there is polka music. It's Polka Heaven.
Originating from Cleveland, Ohio (Hometown of America's Polka King, Frankie Yankovic), 247PolkaHeaven.com features many of the best Polka personalities from across the U.S.A. and Canada, playing the very best in polkas and waltzes with information important to polka fans everywhere.
You'll have to listen to a non-polka ad before the music starts. Some will think the ad is more enjoyable.

Cabinet Quiz
How familiar are you with the President's Cabinet? Take a quiz. I scored 50% -- much better than I thought I'd do.
Hint: Each question has a joke answer. For example, Macy's Department Store is not located at the Pentagon.
