A Goood Collection Of Typographcal Errrors

This is very entertaining: The Proofreader's Hall of Shame. It's a big collection of typos. Like the one in this ad:

Stress In Tacoma

You think your life is stressful? Be glad you don't live in Tacoma, WA -- which was ranked as the most stressful U.S. City.

Move over New York, take a hike Miami, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Dallas and Detroit. You may have stress but none of you have that rare combination of suicide, unemployment, theft and gloomy weather that Tacoma, Washington, has.

Comments On Poetry

This is the second poetry-related post in as many days. This time, it's Actual Comments Overheard In A Poetry Workshop By A Fiction Student In An MFA Program That He, In Order To Fulfill All Degree Requirements, Is Forced to Take, by Steve Calders.

For example, here's a comment he overheard:

"This poem read like it was written by someone who doesn't speak the language is actually speaking the language. That is a compliment. It really, truly feels that you have invented a language that already exists and are unsuccessfully teaching it to people who already know it."

More From The Disney Guy

Last year, I posted a link to the Disney Tattoo Guy -- a man so obsessed with Disney, that his entire body is tattooed with cartoon characters.

I didn't realize that his house also reflects this obsession. View some photos of George Reiger's house. Shown here is the outside of his garage. I'll bet his neighbors just love this guy.

Free After Rebate

Here's a site that specializes in free stuff -- well, it's Free After Rebate.

Everyone loves to get free stuff. Free After Rebate will point you to stores that sell products that end up being free after you send in for a rebate. You'll have to pay for the item up front, then submit the rebate materials. Some time later (usually six to eight weeks) you'll receive a rebate check. We only list products with 100% rebates, but those rebates usually don't reimburse for shipping and sales tax.

Speed, The Game

I usually don't care much for computer games. But this one kept me occupied for 15 minutes. It's a simple card game called Speed. It's about as intellectually stimulating as the game of "War."

Cows And Coffee

Some people really like their coffee. So much so that... Eatery serves up coffee-flavored steak.

The city that spawned America's obsession with strong, dark coffee is giving locals a popular new coffee-flavored steak, even while the mad cow scare that started in Washington state is putting some people off beef.

Rippe's, a local waterfront steak and seafood restaurant, began serving filet mignon steaks dusted with Starbucks Corp.'s dark espresso blend a few weeks ago and now has a runaway hit on its hands.

Good Speakers Not Required

Prepare for some exciting radio from the BBC: Radio 3 to air Cage's 'silence'.

The BBC Symphony Orchestra is to give a performance of composer John Cage's seminal piece 4'33" - nearly five minutes of complete silence.

BBC Radio 3 is to broadcast the entire composition live, even having to switch off its emergency system which cuts in when there is apparent silence.

The Shoe Project

Ann has a photo blog that specializes in shoes: The Shoe Project.

Over the last year or so, I've developed quite a serious liking for all things shoe, and spurred on by various friends who are similarly afflicted, decided that it was time there was somewhere to show off those fantastic new finds (or old favourites).

Wal-Mart Locator

Use the Wal-Mart Locator to find out how many Wal-Mart stores are in your area. But if you think this is a public service for Wal-Mart, it's not. The Wal-Mart Locator is just one part of the Wal-Mart Watch -- which happens to be an anti-Wal-Mart site.

World's Largest Trip

Read all about the World's Largest Trip.

In July and August of 2002, we bravely set off in a rented van on the World's Largest Trip. Our goal: to see as many of the World's Largest stuffs as possible to and from our way to the World's Largest Comic Convention.

One of their stops was to see the world's largest frying pan -- which happens to be in Long Beach, WA.
