The Old Hidden Picture Trick

In the past week or so, I've seen several examples of hidden pictures on the Web. These images display a normal photo, but then reveal a hidden photo when the image is highlighted in the browser.

This trick works only with Internet Explorer, and it takes advantage of how IE displays an image when it is selected.

For an example, click here. You'll see an image of George W. Bush. To see the hidden image, press Ctrl+A to select the entire document.

I created this image using a program written by Jun Hirax, which is available here.

LED Mood Light

Now this is cool: an LED-powered mood light panel. Click the link to see an animated image.

The  configuration shown here consists of nine fixtures. At about $500 each, it can get fairly expensive. The good news is that LED lighting is on the verge of becoming the next big thing, and prices will eventually drop dramatically.

Phones For Chicks

The Samsung SGH-T500 cell phone is designed for women.

The SGH-T500 has every reason to be called a female-centric mobile phone with its multiple female features. The Biorhythm feature allows users to check their daily physical, emotional and intellectual cycles while the Fatness feature is useful to assess body fatness level. In addition, with the built-in Calorie feature, burned calories from daily work and exercise can be calculated and checked. There is also a tool called the Pink Schedule which can keep track of a women's menstrual cycle.

For some reason, this makes me think of P.T. Barnum.

Idioms

The IdiomSite defines an idiom as:

A manner of speaking that is natural to native speakers of a language.

Not surprisingly, you'll find lots of idioms listed and defined. For example...

Jaywalk: This term which dates back to 1917 is slang for crossing in the middle of the street. It comes from the sense of Jay meaning a stupid and annoying person. Since walking into traffic is not a bright idea, the term was applied to those who did it.
