Reading Blogs With NewzCrawler
Last week I wrote a short piece about NewzCrawler, an inexpensive news aggregator program that provides a very efficient way to read news that is syndicated using XML -- more specifically the Rich Site Summary (RSS) protocol. I've spent some time using NewzCrawler to read blogs, and I've written up a summary of my thoughts.

The Lure of Matchbook Covers
I wonder how many IT careers were launched by this matchbook? The money's

Biowalker
I found this
animated GIF image at
John Schull's
WeLog. The original source for the image is
here -- apparently a
faculty member named Blake in the Psychology Department at Vanderbilt
University.
It's amazing how a few moving dots can convey so much information.

and "gift exchanges" degrade the concept of giving. You know Christmas marketing
is a scam, benefiting manufacturers, stores, and huge corporations, while
driving individuals into debt. You know this annual consumer frenzy wreaks havoc
on the environment, filling landfills with useless packaging and discarded
gifts.
Or just try a Google search for Christmas Sucks.

Google Update
Yesterday I mentioned that this blog was removed from Google's index. Well now it's back. I guess it was a cyber hiccup. Google remains as mysterious as ever.
So this should be another active day for the J-Walk Blog, as people come here in search of that infamous Daniel F. dude.

Celebrities With Phones
Sometimes, you
just have to wonder where people come up with the ideas for their web sites. The
Celebrities With Phones sites is a
good example.
This is an image archive with one single rule; pictures must be of famous, infamous, or otherwise well-known people, with a telephone.
