Tom Petty is Pissed
According to this Rolling Stone article, Tom Petty's latest CD has been banned from some radio stations because the lyrics are distinctly anti-radio in nature.
But being banned from the radio is not the reason that he's upset. In fact, he's elated about it. Read the article. Proof that there are actually some intelligent people in the music business.
I'm going to make an exception to my big-label CD boycott, and add The Last DJ it to my collection, where it will join eight other Petty albums.

Election Day
Yes, this is the day. The main problem with elections is that the only people running for office are politicians.
At least it will signal the end of the obnoxious campaign ads. I wonder how long it will take to clean up all the political signs that litter the street corners?

Yes, there really is such a place. At least they have a comic relief section.

Corporations and Monkeys
OK, so I'm probably the last person on Earth to encounter these words of wisdom. But it certainly rings true.
Life
within a large corporation is like a tree full of monkeys. All are on
different limbs, at different levels. Some monkeys are climbing up, some
down. The monkeys on top look down and see a tree full of smiling faces. The
monkeys on the bottom look up and see nothing but assholes.

Why This Man Is Smiling
Microsoft shares increased by about 6% yesterday.
According to
reports:
Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates' personal wealth has jumped by $1.9 billion since Friday afternoon, when a federal judge approved a settlement in the Justice Department's antitrust case against the software company.
