Hump Honkers
I just learned about this new form of protest yesterday, and today it's in the news: Neighbors make their own noise about 'hump honkers'.
Brad Holland recognizes the war cry belching from his neighbor's car horn - a shrieking disruption that can come at any hour, day or night.
That's because Holland lives in a neighborhood where speed humps and honkers don't get along. To show their disdain for the asphalt tables, protesters lay on their horns until they have completely cleared the hump.
"Some people take speed humps really personally," Holland said. "I don't get it."
Whatever it is, it isn't just a Tucson thing. Blogs, and even a few newspaper stories, discussing this kind of speed-hump backlash have started popping up across the country.
