As we have proven here many times, Barbwire, the facts are irrelevant to the segment of the population that has it’s mind made up/turned off. No matter how many times you prove a thing, 20 percent of the population (or so) will believe the opposite.

My middle daughter used to be a waitress, and including the tip was standard (and printed on the menu) for parties of 6 or more. As a few people pointed out, a large party can be a big hit in the pay for servers. Servers have to share their tips with the rest of the staff, and also have to pay income tax withholding on 8% of their orders, so if they don’t receive a tip, they’re paying tax without receiving any money. High school kids going to a big dance are notorious for not tipping, as are some other groups.

I loved “Eats Shoots and Leaves” as well. It wasn’t part of the curriculum, but it was part of the tests when I was teaching. Students were supposed to learn grammar by osmosis, rather than overt instruction. As the common mistakes with apostrophes, plurals, “there, their and they"re”; “your, you’re”; “to, too, two”; “to lie” and “to lay”: to name a few, drove me crazy, I made sure my students learned the rules. Ironic to be a rebel for teaching rules… BTW, the Brits no longer use the apostrophe with numbers, e.g. the 90s. Smart move, I think.

Time of the Season takes me back to a very specific time. I was home from school, sick, for a week. The song puts me right back in my bed with my Dad’s transistor radio, about 3"x5” with a black leather cover with a grid of tiny holes over the speaker.

Actually, I had already Googled it but only saw links to blog posts about PayPal at first. Upon your admonision I went and read a few of them and still found that it’s mostly PayPal so it’s more of a debit than credit device…unless you have a PayPal credit card, which I don’t and don’t want.

Turns out AmEx and Discover also offer it but I don’t have them either. After years of churning we’re down to just one single Visa account and I like it that way. I don’t see anything on their website but I reckon I might contact them directly and see if it’s an option.

I guess the PayPal thing will work for stuff like my blender part anyway. Thanks.
