Yankees Won
(with comments)

The New York Yankees are the new World champs! As long as you buy the fact that the world consists of the U.S. and a small part of Canada.

Can you feel the excitement?

It was a pretty good Series. After a nine year "drought" it almost seems normal that the Yankees are back to winning World Series. (This being the 27th).

Of course, I'm from Seattle and we have no existing MALE sport teams that have won a "World" Championship...

I actually saw the "win" last night. Lots of men hugging and rubbing and jumping on top of each other.

Too bad for The Simpsons that now I'm hooked on The Office...

I'm not much of a sports fan, I don't even root for my home teams (Chicago), but I usually watch the championships.

This year I couldn't make it through a whole game, but saw the first 20-30 minutes of three of them. That was all I could take.

I didn't even know that the Yankees won until I read this post. Sad.

The Phillies developed an incredible team that is almost as good as the Yankees' store-bought mercenaries.

The Phillies brought the core of their team up through their farm system while the Yankees put their team together by outbidding other teams for free agents. The Phillies' payroll is less than half of what the Yankkees pay out each year.

Come on J-W, get it right, even I, a Scot, know that it's called the World Series because it was sponsored by a newspaper called the World.

    Yuck the Fankees.

That's a common misconception among Scots.

I watched the last four games and, even though I wanted the Phillies to win, the truth is they just didn't play as well as the Yankees did.

I still like baseball, but I only watch the Series.

    My--how the world has shrunk.

    Yay Yankees! World Champs again!
I have been a Yankee fan all of my life and I'm loving it.
Although I do find baseball boring and can't sit through a game :)

With what the NYY pay their players, they should go 162-0 and win the Series every single year.

The f'd up thing about baseball is, there's almost no chance for small market teams to have a chance at winning a pennant. Unlike the NFL, there's no revenue sharing in baseball.

I doubt that we'll ever see the Kansas City Royals or the Cincinnati Reds, or other small market teams in the WS again unless changes are made.

Rooting for the Yankees to win is like rooting for the casino to beat all of it's customers. The odds favor the house, and the odds favor the Yankees because they will outspend every other team to try and succeed. This is why it is so much fun to see them lose. Ah, well. It's been a fun 9 years.

Crash, maybe they need to set up another tournament for the "small market teams" that are on a different level than the big ones with big money behind them.

Personally, I like the smaller games better because there's more action and less 3-up/3-down play; in the Series, it gets really exciting when someone finally manages to get a hit and run around the bases a bit. Still - I love the World Series.

A better name should have been "The U.S Championship" Or the NAFTA Championship just in case Toronto gets in the postseason.

Not to worry. We have the Steelers and the Penguins taking up the slack.

Is that an actual bored sports fan, or just a random bored person from the internets?
