What Will You Give Me?
(with comments)

I just received 10 copies of Excel 2007 Power Programming With VBA.

I haven't even looked at it yet, but it's probably a pretty decent book for someone who wants to learn VBA programming for Excel 2007.

I have no need for 10 copies, so let's try something different... What will you give me for a copy of this book? In other words, let's arrange a trade. I'll send you an autographed copy of the book, and you'll send me _________. Fill in the blank.

Think about all of your unwanted stuff. Books, CDs, Kinkade paintings, banjos, etc. Make me an offer, and maybe we can work out a trade. All serious offers will be considered.

RickHap - Offer accepted! I'll be in touch to work out the details.

Dee Why - Offer pending additional data. What media format?

Sparkit - Offer rejected. I've been thinking of donating a bunch to the library anyway.

concertinist - Offer rejected. "Waterways of Missouri" sounds fascinating, but I have no way to play LPs. And I have far too many Kant comics as it is.

Dee Why - Offer Rejected. I'm hoping there will be better offers than a single CD.

Curtis - Offer pending. Juana Molina was almost the deciding factor (I have Segundo, but not Son). I think you're good for more than that.

David - Offer accepted! (Ear buds. You can keep the Mr. Excel videos). Pamn uses ear buds. I will be in touch.

So far, two books have been marked for trade. Let's do four more. I want to hold on to four of them for emergency transactions.

I'll tell you there's a small problem with your UniqueItems algorithm on one of your tips pages: http://j-walk.com/ss/excel/tips/tip15.htm

The last part of it should be:
    ****************
    AddItem:
' If not in list, add the item to unique list
    If Not FoundMatch Then
    NumUnique = NumUnique + 1
    ReDim Preserve Unique(1 to NumUnique)
    Unique(NumUnique) = Element
    End If

    Next Element

' Assign a value to the function
If Count Then UniqueItems = NumUnique Else UniqueItems = Unique
    End Function
    ****************

Notice the (1 to NumUnique) instead of just (NumUnique): keeps the 0 position of the array from being pointlessly empty, which usually becomes a problem when you use LBound.

....oops, guess I don't have too much bargaining power now. :o)

I can't offer much other than my continued support of your book and spreading the word. I will add a link to purchase the book on my website.
