Recall Monkey Toy?
(with comments)

Toy / religion news: Hindu Groups Demand Recall of Monkey God Plush Toy.

Some Hindu activists are demanding that a plush toy based on the Hindu god, Hanuman, be withdrawn, reports India Post.

Kridana, a Pennsylvania-based company, specializes in toys based on Hindu epics. Rajan Zed, a Nevada-based priest and president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, said that it would send an erroneous message to children that they could control Hanuman and other deities.

If you can't keep all of those Hindu gods straight, here's the scoop:

Hanuman, the son of the wind god, is worshipped all over India and is widely recognized as the monkey god because he has the form of a monkey.

It's all about respect:

Bhavna Shinde of the Forum for Hindu Awakening called on Kridana to stay true to the scriptures and show respect to the deities. Shinde stressed Hanuman is meant to be worshipped in shrines not thrown around on the floor or used as a ball or pillow.

Kridana describes "Hanuman plush" as "squeezably soft" and "super-cuddly" and says its toys connects children to "millennia of tradition and culture."

I find it amazing that each religion demands respect from the others, and yet they will not give respect to the others. No wonder this world is in constant chaos. I think this world would be a better place if there was no religion at all. Holy wars. Who needs 'em?

ZOMG! Daniel, thanks for the "Hamaman"! It's amazing how much Ken Ham already looks like Hanuman anyway.
