Martian Mystery
(with comments)

Here's a photo taken by the Phoenix Mars Lander. Notice the object in the yellow circle?

Scientists are baffled. Religious leaders are baffled. Even I'm baffled.

What is it?

(Thanks Banjo Brad)

now that KFC doesn't use the good oil to fry chicken the fact that they call it "Original Recipe" is just a plain out lie.

So that's where that spring went. I've been looking everywhere for it.

Bret is correct on both comments, years ago, before global warming, when gravity ceased the Martians had to settle for springs on their shoes.

Seriously... don't they do stereo pairs? And don't they have cameras that can do progressive scans to synthesize extremely high resolution? They ought to be able to read the "Made in China" label on that thing.

If you mention oil and mars often enough how long do you think it will take to get a mission revved up to go drilling there. Because you know that will solve all our problems.

    Nope -

Contrary to the Religious Fanatics, we aren't the only intelligent life in the universe.

This "Marsworm" is actually made in God's own image!

Isn't it interesting that after spending kazillion dollars of citizen tax money and have so many years to prepare for this that:

the focus of the camera is on the spring wrapped around the arm and not on the ground perhaps a foot away!

Could we not have saved all of that money and just photographed the spring around the arm on earth?

A part of Phoenix had fallen off. Reckon ?!
But, was that nearly a problem ?

It happened all the time in our practical workshop.

Say, each wheel is held by 4 bolts ; 1 bolt falls out, the remaining 3 secure the wheel just the same.

The car keeps running ; 4 bolts or 3.

Phnenix will keep running ; that's alright, O'Matey.

    Regards
