I Don’t Understand Podcasts
(with comments)
Robert Scoble writes:
The Church of the Customer folks have an excellent podcast up with great tips for marketing to women.
Assume for a minute that I actually have an interest in marketing to women. I go to the site, and there's nothing to read. I have to download a 10 Mb MP3 file and devote 23 minutes to listening to it. Had it been a written article, I could have determined if it was worth reading in about five seconds. Then I could have read it all in about five minutes or less.
Basically, they're telling me that their content is so good that I should spend five times longer than necessary to consume it. I don't think so. In addition, their content will not be indexed by the search engines, so it's going to be very short-lived.
I guess there are some major podcast fans out there. I just don't understand the appeal.
