Dueling Banjos In Excel
(with comments)

They said it couldn't be done. But it has been done: Dueling Banjos In Excel.

For best results, right-click and save the file to your hard drive. You must enable macros. Excel for Macintosh? Don't bother downloading. It uses Windows API functions.

Yeah it's stupid, but let's see you come up with a better song. That workbook has everything you need (and there's more info here). Just enter the notes and durations for your song. If you come up with something good, send me a copy. Whoever sends me the best song gets a free copy of Excel 2007 For Dummies Quick Reference.

Voice 58 (for the trumpet). The blank notes are supposed to be rests. It's the theme of CBS Sunday Morning, also known as Abblassen, by Bach.

    What, no notes inégales, Steve?

No problem, concertinist. Just replace the strings of 200s with alternating 180/220s, and the 400's with alternating 380/420s. Piece of cake.

Yeah, so intuitive to the most casual observer that I didn't even mention it. In version 2.0, I'll have an option to do notes inégales automatically.

You can't get a result of TRUE with this formula:

    =(94.4 - 94) = (94.8 - 94.4)
