   I do not want no damn Republican convention in my town. I live in a neighborhood with old Victorian mansions overlooking the convention site. Owners are falling all over themselves renting them out to various nattering nabobs who will be here for the (sure to be) gloomy festivities. Might have to plan a vacation for that time period.

    That logo is scarey! I'm with Curtis. I don't want/need these people in my town. I'd like to protest, but the city council says that I need to request a permit to do that. The city council will decide who gets a permit and how many people can be there.

    There is a coincidence - elephants in my parking lot this morning. It is bad enough that things are completely torn up around here with stadium construction and rail line construction and utility construction and ramp closings... then they move all the monthly parking down to a more remote lot and the closer one is filling up with construction trailers and so many roads are closed that they've had to have a cop here every afternoon just to direct traffic to help get a few hundred cars out of the last remaining parking lot access... but now the Shriners have parked all the trailers for their circus in the lot, too.

    The logo is a bit odd... the bulk of an elephant, the comportment of a braying jackass... something for everybody. The stripes and star-eye are simply goofy.
    And what is this "Minneapolis- St. Paul" stuff? St. Paul is St. Paul. Minneapolis is Minneapolis. Curtis may be looking over it; we'll be overlooking it.

    WTF!? the convention is in Saint Paul! Minneapolis is incidental, due only to it's proximity. Let the drunken neo-cons wander over there to get a taste of culture, panhandlers, and other Senator Craig-like delights. St. Paul is gonna be soooooo wholesome during the conventions such that you';; likely get arrested for farting in public. 'Nuff said.

    You know Curtis, I might be tempted to pack away all the valuables, take the family and the pets on a vacation and rent out my place if I lived close. Bet you could make enough in rental for one week to pay for that vacation. Change the locks and hire a cleaning crew for when you come home, though.

    The one thing I'm convinced all Republicans have in common is fear. Fear of not having enough money, fear that somebody somewhere is having a good time, fear that WASPs will be marginalized politically, fear that they may have to settle for 84% of the earth's resources rather than 85%...
    
    Anyway, I hope Garrison Keillor is broadcasting live during the convention, he's a mouse that roars.
