Backup Dog Walker
(with comments)

His name is Dale Haney, and he's Obama's backup presidential pet walker for Bo.

Presidents, of course, don't have time to walk their dogs, unless it's a scheduled photo op to make millions feel warm and fuzzy. So the primary walker of Bo Obama is reportedly Michelle Obama. But even she is sometimes too busy.

So, Darlene Superville explains in a charming Associated Press story tonight, the walking job falls to a little-known, 57-year-old man named Dale Haney. He's walked presidential dogs for decades now all the way back to 1972...

He's also the White House chief groundskeeper.

Haney likes Bo just fine. But he still carries a soft spot in his heart for George and Laura Bush's dog Spot. Spot was actually born to the White House, way back in 1989 as the daughter of Millie of the first President Bush.

I thought Bo was for the Obama girls. Where do they fit in to his walking schedule?

Haven't seen the first family with that dog since the first brainwashing, i mean, photo op of them walking it as a happy little bunch. Real animal lovers would have already had a dog when moving into the White House, not buy some poor creature for propaganda as the Obamas and Clintons did. When Obama gets voted out, will the dog go with them or get left behind to get hit by a car as did the Clintons'?

Either I didn't care or... well I just didn't care. But did you notice that the dog is part black/part white. Humm, my dog is all black, if you wanted to know.

Hahahahahahahah Scot you are too funny. You're so unhappy, and if you weren't so hateful I'd feel bad for you.

Just keep grinding your teeth and snarling; but I suggest you get one of those mouthguards. There's three (and probably seven) more years to go!

    Scot,
stop trying to mislead people by bringing up common sense conclusions and truth. It just shows your angerrrrrrr and exposes your bias.

Of course it's a white guy.... No racism here... How would this have played out if Bush had a black guy walking his dog????

1972... that would be the Nixon White House...I wonder if Glenn Beck knows about this...

Onecos can't find enough ugliness to squawk about so he has to fall back on "what ifs."

This man is white, has been white the whole time he's been walking dogs for white Presidents - 37 years. Now that he's walking dogs for a black President, screwballs like Onecos have to try to make something racist out of it.

    Pretty lame.

Whoa, whoa .. back up there Mary. I think he was saying that IF Bush had a black man walking his dog, the MEDIA would have tried to make something racist out of it. Whether they would or wouldn't, I don't know, but stop trying to call every conservative a racist. It's "pretty lame."

Evil Klown, who would even think of such a thing as to reflect on the fact that the man walking the dog is white except someone who's looking for skin color everywhere he turns? Seriously, when you read the story about the groundskeeper who's been walking the Presidents' dogs for 30+ years, did you pay any attention to his skin color? Of course not.

How about it? Did anyone else take note of the fact that the man walking the dog is white?

As far as this goes, until Obama was elected, every President we've had has been white - not just Bush, for Pete's sake - and if you want to go there, then let's check into this: Does the White House employ any black people in house staff positions, as housekeepers, maintenance personnel, kitchen workers or chefs/cooks, drivers, etc.? Has it employed any black people in the last 50 years? Why haven't we heard about this one way or another? Either there ARE black people in service positions under white Presidents - ooooooo, racism - or there AREN'T - ooooooo - "politically correct" form of racism.

It's a pointless exercise in nonsense. Nobody would notice or care if the groundskeeper/dog walker is black or white.
