Baby Cage
(with comments)
I saw this at Kitchen Retro: All Kooped Up.
It's an ad for Trimble's Practical Safety Crib. It's basically a rat cage for a baby.
When you put Baby in safety-screen Kiddie-Koop, he's there to stay. He can't get out, can't throw towys out... pets and older children can't hurt him. He is safe -- and you know it, even if you are out of sight.
And 87 out of 100 doctors say that it's safer than an ordinary crib.
So why don't people use this any more? Or do they?

It looks so much like Furniture ie. Pie Safe, Linen Airator, Curio Cabinet that I'd pass by without a second glance!
Poor Stinky Baby. - By . Comment posted 29-Nov-2009 @04:30pm:I think you've got the right idea, J-Walk. It looks more like an animal cage than a place to keep a baby.

I'm pretty sure they come with a wire mesh bottom. The waste products just drop through on to the cedar chips. Every week or so, you just change the chips. - By wally the duck. Comment posted 29-Nov-2009 @05:10pm:So why don't people use this any more? Or do they?
Other minds inquire as well:

More than a decade back, I kept my young'ins in their crib with a similar device. The crib-cap was fashioned from PVC pipe, screen mesh, and wire-ties. The appropriate southern flair was maintained by keeping the cap locked with a bungee cord.
The need was inspired/demanded by a daughter who vaulted out of the uncapped crib before the age of 1 year. - By GreenBoy. Comment posted 30-Nov-2009 @05:43am:Didnt some guy recently get arraested for doing this sort of thing to a girl he kidnapped off of the street back in the 70's?
