I was wheelbarrowing sand in the garden today—33C/85F—with sweat running down my face despite a couple of bandannas. On a CBC TV science show, just learned the following science trivia. If you reduced all the stars in the Milky Way to the size of grains of sand, the number of stars would be equivalent to one dumptruck load of sand. Your basic dumptruck will hold 10 cubic yards or 270 cubic feet of sand. 270 cubic feet of sand is equal to 90 full-sized wheelbarrow loads, if you don’t skimp with your shovel. I only did 12 wheelbarrow loads. That’s still a lot of stars.

Just got home from the Prairie Home Companion show in Avon, Mn. What a HUGE crowd (expected it to be) and what excellent crowd control by the local and county police.
It was hot but fun, if for nothing else than people watching. We sat behind a pine tree obstructing the stage, but right by a speaker, so it evened out :^)
(We got up to take pics).
A cool thing—a thousand umbrellas folded when Garrison hit the stage.

I haven’t been asked if I’ve been saved since the early 70s, although I have been asked similar questions - as Bisbo was - on very, very rare occasions. I’ve been asked if I had a dollar dozens of times and asked if I’d like to donate to something or other many times, and I couldn’t count how many times I’ve been asked TO buy something that I had no interest in at all. I’ve been asked by Jehovah’s Witnesses if they could talk with me for a few minutes and I always say, “No thank you” and they go away.

Somehow none of it seems to bother me very much; must be something’s very wrong with me.

Re: Kindle for the aging—I have a major problem with hand numbness because of my stupid back—I think this is probably a problem for a lot of people as they get older. That’s the main reason I got a Kindle and it has really made it a non-issue for me.

The Kindle is a major part of dealing positively with my chronic nerve pain (and without using medication).
