This is the web. Just ignore apostrophes all together and pretend its a typo.

Man, I wish you would have posted this a couple of months ago. We had a heated debate in at work about whether or not childrens packaged undies are "girls', girl's, or girls panties."

Ultimately "girl's panties" was used, despite the fact that most of us thought it was incorrect.

Should be added to the curriculum. In fact can they do prepositions and sentence structure?

meg_mac, you should make this site one of your daily reads.

    Great site.

Did you spot the link to 6 Reasons Bacon is Better Than True Love?

    I'll add a seventh - I'd rather read Curtis's reviews of bacon.

It's a little complicated. I prefer Bob the Angry Flower's version

We have a whole bunch of stupid signs in this neighborhood that have absolutely NO idea of what to do with the '. One of the worse ones is we sell TV's (what of TV's do you sell? The antenna? The screen? The remote?) Makes me want to run inside the business and scream at them but I am sure they would have no idea of what I would be screaming about.

I loved "Eats Shoots and Leaves" as well. It wasn't part of the curriculum, but it was part of the tests when I was teaching. Students were supposed to learn grammar by osmosis, rather than overt instruction. As the common mistakes with apostrophes, plurals, "there, their and they"re"; "your, you're"; "to, too, two"; "to lie" and "to lay": to name a few, drove me crazy, I made sure my students learned the rules. Ironic to be a rebel for teaching rules... BTW, the Brits no longer use the apostrophe with numbers, e.g. the 90s. Smart move, I think.

I'm all over the board with this topic.

I learned correct punctuation and spelling way back when.

    Yes, then.

There should be a page like this for hyphens. Too many people seem to think that hyphens are universal punctuation symbols and the trend seems to be getting worse by the day.
