Psssst… Don’t Eat The Kebabs
(with comments)
In Moscow: Body parts sold to kebab stand.
Russian police have arrested three homeless people suspected of eating a 25-year-old man they had butchered and selling other bits of the corpse to a local kebab house.
Suspicions were raised when dismembered parts of a human body were found near a bus stop in the outskirts of the Russian city of Perm, 720 miles east of Moscow.
Three homeless men with previous criminal records have been arrested on suspicion of setting upon a foe with knives and a hammer before chopping up his corpse to eat, local investigators said in a statement.
"After carrying out the crime, the corpse was divided up: part was eaten and part was also sold to a kiosk selling kebabs and pies," the prosecutor's main investigative unit for the Perm region said.
The yummy-looking kebabs shown here are just random kebabs. Probably not even in Russia.

Four people have been arrested in Peru on suspicion of killing dozens of people in order to sell their fat and tissue for cosmetic uses in Europe.
The gang allegedly targeted people on remote roads, luring them with fake job offers before killing them and extracting their fat.
The liquidised product fetched $15,000 (£9,000) a litre and police suspect it was sold on to companies in Europe. - By Bisbonian. Comment posted 20-Nov-2009 @12:27pm:In Olongopo City, P.I. (near Subic Bay), the street vendors sell (sold?) grilled meat on a stick. Usually monkey. Monkey on a stick.

Comment posted 20-Nov-2009 @02:49pm:There are periodic flares of scandal about cosmetics companies using fetal collagen tissue which claim that fetuses are intentionally conceived and aborted for that purpose. Like everything else, there's probably a grain of truth to the claim - it likely happened once, somewhere, but it's hard to believe it would be an ongoing situation.
I think it's interesting that in Doug's article mention is made of a Peruvian "legend" in which a group of killers murder wandering loners for their fat. I gave one shot at Googling this - the group is called "Pishtacos" - because I wondered what they used the fat for if this was done long enough ago to be called a legend, but Google pulled one of the stupid stunts that drives me nuts: "Did you mean to search for "pistachios?" and nearly all the links are about pistachios. I love Google, but this annoys me to no end.
Anyway, human-meat kabobs? Now I'm even uneasy buying those delicious tacos from the taco truck ... - By Minderbinder. Anyone been there recently?
