Advances In Child Discipline
(with comments)

In Arkansas: Cop tases 10-year old girl.

An Arkansas cop tasered an unruly 10-year-old girl after her mother called police to report that the child was crying, screaming, and refusing to go to bed. The tased girl, Kiara Medlock, is about 65 pounds and 4' 6", according to her father. Anthony Medlock, a truck driver who does not live with the fifth grader and her mother, provided TSG with a recent photo of his daughter, which can be seen at right.

According to the below Ozark Police Department report, when Officer Dustin Bradshaw arrived at the residence last Thursday, he found the girl "screaming, kicking, and resisting every time her mother tried to touch her." Bradshaw added that, "Her mother told me to tase her if I needed to." After Kiara continued to refuse her mother's instructions, the cop concluded that "there was not going to be a peaceful resolution of the issue." Bradshaw warned the girl that she was "going to jail," but the child continued kicking and crying and resisted his attempt to handcuff her.

In the end, it all worked out:

During the tussle, Kiara "struck me with her legs and feet in the groin, reported Bradshaw, who countered with a brief "stun to her back" with his Taser. The child, not surprisingly, "immediately stopped resisting and was placed into handcuffs.

In Oregon I don't think they publish the names of minors like that, no matter what they did. Of course being in Arkansas she might be married and have a couple kids already.

And missing 8 teeth, and an accomplished clawhammer banjo player.

    Just kidding, Arkansawians!

Apparently because she refused to take a shower. And yet a mum here in Australia is being prosecuted for giving her child a pat on the rear with a wooden spoon.

So, throwing a temper tantrum is an arrestable offense in Arkansas?

I'd have to say this was handled poorly by all involved. I wonder if this kind of thing ever happened in Hope, Arkansas.

Once upon a time, two women created the cutest velour hoodies and matching drawstring pants. The line was called Christian Louboutin and every starlet in Tinseltown had to have one. Soon after, so did the rest of the world. Now the once little brand has blossomed into a fashion empire, complete with clothing, Christian Louboutin Shoes, jewelry, handbags, and most recently, fragrance.

I am SHOCKED at this! I mean, I am shocked that this was a *white* girl this happened to. Do a quick Google search on cops and tasers. A 72 year old grandmother, a woman rushing her father to the emergency room, a kid with a broken back, a man with no legs....

Now, if you happen to be *black* you don't get tased - you get shot to death.

I love these quotes from a newspaper article on this.

In some cases, a Taser "presents the safer response to resistance compared with the alternatives such as fists, kicks, baton strikes, bean bag guns, chemical agents, or canine response," Tuttle said in a statement.

The police chief, who has been Tasered twice himself during training sessions, said his department has never had to Taser a child or elderly person before, but that in some instances, that could be necessary to ensure safety.

"We don't want to do things like this," Noggle said. "This is something we have to do. We're required to maintain order and keep the peace."

I guess it's a good thing for the child that the mother didn't say "You can sic a dog on her and then shoot her in the face if you want to."

And no, cops are not required "to maintain order and keep the peace" when it involves a child throwing a temper tantrum.

The mother, the cop, and everyone who has offered defense for either needs to be taken to a small field and forced to dig a deep hole.
Then, they should be forced to fill said hole with their corpses.

Normally I would think its the parents fault the kid acts this way in the first place, they should of handled it on their own and it shouldnt of came to this. But if the kid is just being a violent brat then I guess this would be better than the cop just tackling her after she kicked him. Hard to say without seeing it all go down firsthand.

I bet if the kid was wearing Christian Louboutin cute velor hoodies (and matching drawstring pants), she wouldn't have been tasered.
